GOD'S GUIDANCE FOR GIVING

Six Studies by Rev. Ken Behnken relate the principles of the Old Testament's Law of the Tithe to our Christian Giving as we live under the Gospel.  The Principle of Christian Freedom, The Principle of God's Ownership, The Principle of Worship or Priority, The Principle of Covenanting, The Principle of Effect, and The Principle of Accountability provide strong Biblical encouragement to faithful, conscientious Christian Giving.

Study Guides spell things out for participants and offer quotations from Dr. Carl Berner, a long-time advocate of the Sealed Pledge approach to properly motivated Christian Giving.  Questions invite participants to analyze and apply the Biblical principles to their Christian Giving.  THOUGHTS FOR THE LEADER assures that the class leader will always understand what the Study Guide is emphasizing.

STUDIES USING VIDEO DRAMATIZATIONS

GENESIS and LUKE unfold as Beginnings and Our Compassionate Savior in most enjoyable fashion for the participants in these Studies.  They utilize the dramatizations of the Scripture events on New Media Bible Videos by The Genesis Project as the Bible text is read as a voice-over to tell the story.  Study Guides by Rev. Ken Behnken then lead into the Bible itself to help participants explore and understand and apply God's purposes for their lives in what they have viewed.  THOUGHTS FOR THE LEADER ascertain that the leader is able to help the participants get the point.  Because of the viewing of the dramatizations, a full hour is required to do justice to these studies.

New Media Bible Videos (THE GENESIS PROJECT) may be purchased -- four cassettes per set -- for $99.50 from Gateway Films (Vision Videos), Box 540, Worchester, PA 19490, or through a local Christian Book Store.

THE REVELATION TO JOHN -- a Study in Contrasts

This Study by Dr. Howard Kramer is offered in LECTURE format, designed to avoid too much wandering on the part of the group, and helping them focus on this intriguing book of the New Testament as a consistent Study in Contrasts.  When this principle is grasped the Book of Revelation opens up with new meaning.  Discussion of the study is saved for a time after the completion of the study.  Lecture notes are to be presented to participants after the lectures in each of the class sessions. THOUGHTS FOR THE LEADER offer Dr. Kramer's own suggestions for making the most of this opportunity.

Dr. Kramer has presented this lecture successfully to both small groups and large groups, both as a weekly class and in concentrated seminar formats.  He has found that its Study in Contrasts has helped participants gain a greater appreciation for and understanding of this 'mysterious' apocalyptic book.

STUDIES OF NEW TESTAMENT BOOKS

These Studies were prepared by Rev. Ken Behnken for use with Sunday Morning Bible Classes, but lend themselves readily also to Small Group Bible Studies.  Their purchase authorizes pastors to edit and print copies of the studies as desired throughout their ministries.

The Study Guides for participants provide introductory backgrounds and historical settings for the writing of the books, point up the writers' purposes in writing, organize the study, and ask questions for discussion that encourage analysis and personal application.  One participant commented, "These studies ask questions that make you think, instead of just filling in the blanks with what Scripture says."  THOUGHTS FOR THE LEADER adds information and significant quotations, additional Scripture references, and ascertains that the leader understands the point of the questions that are asked.

Norm Zurell, lay leader of a Men's Bible Study Group at Faith, Penfield, NY, wrote about his group's experience with the RLP Study of Hebrews.  He said his own and the group's experience "was truly rewarding.  The leader's notes permitted me to focus more closely on the Study itself rather than spending time doing the research.  The Studies and the Thoughts for the Leader were similarly helpful to others in the group whom I enlisted to take a turn at facilitating the sessions.  We all felt better informed and more at ease as facilitators using these Studies than we have with other materials.   I'll be contacting you soon regarding the next Study that we will want to pursue together."

The Studies available are:  Gospel of Matthew (52 short studies), Gospel of John (39 short studies), The Sermon on the Mount (8 studies), I AMs of Jesus (9 studies), In the Upper Room with Jesus (10 studies), Acts (17 studies), Romans (19 studies), First Corinthians (19 studies), Second Corinthians (11 studies), Galatians (7 studies), Ephesians (8 studies), Philippians (5 studies), Colossians (7 studies), 1 & 2 Thessalonians (8 studies), Hebrews (11 studies), James (6 studies), First Peter (7 studies), First John (6 studies).
